We use an in-house intra oral scanner to take a digital picture of your gums. No tray of putty, no gagging, no waiting for it to set. The scan is quick, comfortable, and the fit is more accurate than the old putty impressions.

When you have lost one or a few teeth and the rest are healthy, a partial denture is often the right call. It fills the gap and rests against your natural teeth, without changing them.

Intra Oral
Scanning.
The old way of taking an impression meant a tray of putty in your mouth for several minutes, while you tried not to gag. We use a small camera that takes a digital picture of your gums and teeth instead. It is quick, clean, and far more comfortable.
No tray, no putty
Nothing sets in your mouth and there is nothing to gag on. Helpful for patients with a strong gag reflex.
Better accuracy
The digital impression gives much more details than the putty impression therefore the denture fit is much better.

The scan is sent straight to the lab. No posting, no waiting for the putty to be poured into a model.

A standard lower denture often slips when you eat or talk. Implant supported dentures fix that. A few small implants go into the bone, and the denture clips onto them. It stays put, feels stable, and is far closer to having your own teeth back.

Dr. Slabber places the implants, the planning is done with in-house 3D scans, so the implants are placed in the exact position, & a few weeks later the digital impressions are taken and sent to a dental technician who makes the final denture.

Denture Questions.
From your first visit to your final fitting, most dentures take between two and four weeks. We start with a scan or assessment of your mouth, then we send the design to the lab, and after that you come back for a try-in and the final fitting. Implant supported dentures take longer because the implants need to integrate with bone before the denture clips on top.
Yes. The teeth on modern dentures are matched to the shape and colour of natural teeth, and the pink part is matched to the colour of your gums. We work with you on the shade and shape so the result looks like you, not like a generic set of teeth. Most people who meet you will have no idea you are wearing dentures.
A little, yes. Most people need a week or two to get used to the feeling of something new in their mouth. Speaking and eating feels a bit different at first, and your mouth might make more saliva for a few days. This settles down quickly. Within two to three weeks most patients say the dentures feel normal.
Yes, with some adjustment in the beginning. We suggest starting with soft foods cut into small pieces, and chewing with both sides of your mouth at the same time. After a few weeks you will be back to eating most of the foods you enjoy. Very hard or sticky foods are still best avoided. Implant supported dentures handle harder foods much better than standard ones.
No. We suggest taking them out at night. Your gums need a rest from the pressure, and sleeping without them lowers the risk of sore spots and gum infections. Pop them in a glass of water or a denture cleaning solution overnight, and put them back in after you brush in the morning.
Brush them once a day with a soft brush and a mild soap or denture cleaner. Normal toothpaste is too rough and can scratch the surface. Rinse them after meals to clear out food bits. Also brush your gums and tongue with a soft brush before you put the dentures back in. We will show you the full routine at your fitting.
A well-cared-for denture usually lasts between five and ten years. The teeth and the fit slowly wear down over time, and your gums also change shape a little as the years go by. Chrome cobalt partials tend to last longer than plastic ones because the frame is more durable. We check the fit at your regular visits and let you know when a reline or a new set makes sense.
A partial denture fills the gap where one or several teeth are missing, and it clips or rests against your remaining natural teeth. A full denture replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw and sits on your gums. The choice between the two depends on how many natural teeth you still have and how healthy they are.
The implant placement itself is done with local anaesthetic, so the procedure is not painful. Some swelling and tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal and settles with simple painkillers. Once the implants are in and the denture clips on, the result is more stable and far more comfortable than a standard denture. Most patients say it feels much closer to having their own teeth back.
